historical curiosities 3 – weird bits and bobs

by quaesitor

after the summer hiatus, i will resume normal posting in due course. But here are a few random titbits to keep those who are getting a little post-hungry at bay.

1. Historical Connections

Spotted on a wall in Southwold, Suffolk. I just liked it.

2. Smoking Ban

Spotted this weekend – probably loads of these around, but the first time i’ve seen it. Adds a whole new dimension to the recent UK-wide smoking ban. Not sure why it would ever be permissable in such circumstances though…

3. Yorkshire – the universal language

Spotted on the M5 last week.

OK – i promise to get a bit more serious soon.

INEVER want to hear another word about my jokes after this post!
By the way, did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off?
    He’s all right now.
Also, I’ve been having a problem with my shoes recently…
then I realised, one wasn’t right.

PS Mark, you will probably conclude that I made those last two jokes because I’m a “leftie” Labour Party member.
